Long ago, musicians pounded out rhythms with sticks and sang melodies. Over time, people invented more instruments and changed and improved instruments to create new kinds of sounds. Sounds became more interesting, and songs became longer and more interesting. Even with powerful electronics technology available, musicians still use a variety of instruments today. Many different styles of music can be made in many different ways. For example, electronics and computers were used in the creation of the styles of music called techno and drum and bass, but there are some musicians now who play these styles using only live instruments!
